Easy Appetizer: Marinated Goat Cheese...
Creating
homemade gifts are not a new thing; just ask all the people with enough sugary
sweets to fuel a rocket. However, making savory homemade gifts in a snazzy jar
with your own personal handmade card, now that is a gift worth someone bragging
about.
Marinated
goat cheese has a variety of fun flavorful uses; other than sticking your hands
in the jar and eating the incredible tangy cheese all by itself. Salads scream
for it; cheese plates praise for it, and buttery cracker need more of this
recipe for marinated goat cheese.
It
has the perfect combination of high quality extra virgin olive oil, spicy
tones, fresh citrus zest, and fresh herbs along with sea salt and fresh cracked
pepper. It will need to hang out at your
home for four hours before showcasing its originality; but it will need to be
consumed at least within 2 weeks after being jarred.
There
some really cute clasp canning jars that are perfect for this project; they
come in 4 ounces and up. For this project, 4 ounce jars are perfect; the recipe
will create 12 yummy marinated jars of tangy goat cheese goodness.
Add
an embossed card and fancy ribbon to ensure you beat out the cookies on a paper
plate wrapped in colored plastic wrap. Perhaps this was you last year; but that
is all in the past.
Recipe for
marinated goat cheese
Be sure to
purchase plain goat cheese when buying the logs, each log is the perfect amount
for the jars.

hours.
What you will
need;
·
12 (2 ounce) canning jars with a clasp lid
·
Embossed cards for labels
·
Twine for cards
·
12 (2 ounce) logs of plain goat cheese
·
2 ½ cups of high quality extra virgin olive oil
·
4 ounce container fresh rosemary
·
2 Tablespoons red chili flakes
·
Zest of 2 oranges
·
Zest of 2 lemons
·
8 garlic cloves, finely minced
·
1 Tablespoon herbs de Province
·
Sea salt
·
Fresh cracked black pepper
Directions:
1.) In a large
mixing bowl, whisk the olive oil, red chili flakes, zest of both citrus,
garlic, and dried herbs. Lightly season
the mixture with salt and pepper. Pour
about 1 inch in each jar; set aside.
2.) Using a hot
knife, slice each log into 4 equal pieces, sprinkle with a little salt and
pepper, roll the slices into balls, and place 4 balls in each jar. Divide the
rosemary sprigs evenly among the jars, and fill each jar with the oil mixture.
3.) Tightly
close the jars, secure the cards with the twine, and place in the refrigerator
for at least 4 hours.
Be sure to put an “eat by date” on the jars for
your gift recipients; and don’t act too surprise to see your gift on display at
the next dinner party....
